Wuppertal, May 2024 – The autonomous robot vacuum cleaner Nexaro NR 1500 is the first compact vacuum robot in the world to meet the latest international safety standard IEC 63327 for commercial cleaning robots, which was only adopted at the end of last year. Compliance with the safety standard and the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC has been tested and confirmed by the independent testing body TÜV Süd. In addition, certification was carried out by the testing institute, which enables the Nexaro NR 1500 to bear the renowned GS test mark issued by TÜV-SÜD. This certifies that all requirements of the German Product Safety Act (ProdGS) are met. The Wuppertal start-up Nexaro takes into account all regulatory and safety-relevant requirements for professional cleaning robots and is thus setting new standards.
“The Nexaro NR 1500 was the first vacuum robot of its kind to be developed for the demands of professional building cleaning. The certification of the Nexaro NR 1500 by TÜV Süd confirms our high standards for safety and quality, which have always formed the basis of our product development,” explains Dr. Henning Hayn, General Manager at Nexaro. “Our consistent, strategic focus on professional users forms the basis: The aim is to enable users to simplify internal processes and increase efficiency by providing automated cleaning solutions. In extensive test runs with our national and international partners, we have shown that it is possible to meet strict international safety standards and the specific needs of our customers at the same time. The TÜV certificate issued for compliance with the latest safety standard IEC 63327 confirms our full compliance with the applicable safety standards and enables the Nexaro NR 1500 to be used safely in public areas."
Further information on the certification of the Nexaro NR 1500 as well as product demonstrations of Nexaro's cobotic system solution will be available from 14th to 17th May 2024 at Interclean, the international trade fair for cleaning and hygiene, at stand 07.116 in Amsterdam.
The regulatory requirements
In addition to the international safety standard IEC 63327, the Nexaro NR 1500 complies with the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and has the renowned GS test mark from TÜV Süd – and thus meets all the requirements for commercial cleaning.
The IEC 63327 safety standard for commercial cleaning robots covers the safety of motor-driven automatic floor treatment machines intended for commercial indoor use.
The Machinery Directive specifies the health and safety requirements for machines used in professional environments. The Machinery Directive must also be confirmed and ensured by a Declaration of Conformity from the manufacturer.
The GS test mark for “tested safety” indicates that products meet the requirements of the German Product Safety Act (ProdGS). It covers all important product features, such as electrical safety, handling of chemicals, ergonomics and noise emissions. TÜV Süd confirms that products with this mark are safe to use when used properly.
The Cobotic Approach
The holistic cobotic system solution from Nexaro, consisting of the autonomous robot vacuum cleaner Nexaro NR 1500 and the associated Nexaro HUB software, epitomizes real collaboration between humans and the most modern, autonomous robot technology. The vacuum robot and the software solution were tested for use in professional building cleaning and significantly further developed based on the knowledge gained. The key to this approach is to increase efficiency and quality while reducing costs.
The flexible use of robot vacuum cleaners significantly reduces the burden on cleaning staff in their everyday work. This is achieved by eliminating the particularly strenuous dry cleaning of floors and work during off-peak times – especially at night.
