In order to protect people from illness and disease, strict hygiene rules must be established; these of course include thorough cleaning and disinfection. But not all spaces are alike: a cleaning concept is needed in order to literally reach every nook and cranny of the building. Of course, your customers can carry out so-called maintenance cleaning themselves – but if you, as professionals, take over the job, the result will be a cleaner space and your customers will be able to focus – and gladly, at that – on their own tasks. What makes up a cleaning concept?

A cleaning concept addresses all the typical wh-questions about what (maintenance) cleaning should do:     


What: First, it makes a record of which areas and objects should be thoroughly cleaned and then disinfected in the following step. This includes floors, surfaces and equipment.


How: To avoid damage, both the cleaning equipment and cleaning techniques must be adapted to the corresponding floors and surfaces. A cleaning concept can also specify the use of smart robot vacuum cleaners.


With what: The cleaning concept makes a note of which disinfectants and cleaning agents are to be used. It's not just about the area, but also about dosage and exposure time. And finally, these cleaning agents must be able to be removed without leaving any residue.


When: Once all the corresponding areas and cleaning agents have been assigned, the cleaning cycle begins: the need can vary depending on how often an object or space is used and how quickly it gets dirty. Using the corresponding software, smart robot vacuum cleaners can be programmed and controlled according to individual needs. Last but not least, equipment in the catering sector must be thoroughly cleaned immediately after use and often dismantled before doing so.


Who: The last step is to determine which employee is responsible for which task. The key is to ensure nothing is overlooked, but nothing is done twice either.

What's the point of having the best cleaning concept without ready-to-use cleaning tools? 

That's why no task ends with cleaning the object or space at hand: the last step is to clean the tools used in the process. If necessary, tools may also be disinfected. Effective protection against bacteria and the like includes washing all textiles such as sponges and cloths in at least 60°C water and then letting them dry thoroughly. 

A color concept for textiles also ensures that they are always used to clean the same area.

How can you create a cleaning concept?

To get the best idea, a cleaning company should plan an inspection of the property together with the client. This allows you to carry out an on-site analysis on a room-by-room basis. If available, obtain a floor plan. Take a close look at which areas get dirty quickly and ask your client which areas get a lot of traffic. Check the sanitary facilities and all floor coverings and estimate how often they need to be cleaned. Inquire about any special requests and include them in your cleaning concept. If you jot everything down during the property inspection, it will be easy to create a cleaning plan later. Once you have listed all the tasks that need to be done, you can can efficiently order and distribute the tasks among your employees.
